Dunstan Hospital is a modern, purpose built facility which includes a 24 acute bed inpatient ward (including a three bed High Dependency Unit) and provides secondary health services to around 25,000 people living in the wider Central Otago and Wanaka regions.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Lead Sonographer to join our Radiology team in Central Otago.

What we're looking for:

  • A Sonographer with leadership ability/experience preferable

  • A friendly Sonographer who is happy to be part of a small Radiology team and works hard to lead by example when it comes to clinical excellence

  • Someone who takes an interest in developing our business, and is enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge

  • Experience in performing Obstetric, General and Vascular examinations is essential.  It would be preferable to have MSK experience also

  • A flexible team player, committed to ongoing education and best possible patient care and outcomes

  • You will be honest, professional, compassionate and a role model for all staff

  • Someone who can assist in the training and support of students, trainees and staff if required

  • Sufficient level of expertise to work autonomously without a Radiologist on-site

  • Registered and licensed Sonographer with the MRTB, and eligible to work in NZ (essential)

Your work will include:

  • Conducting ultrasound examinations to an exceptional standard on a GE LOGIQ E9

  • Providing a high level of care and diligence through provision of clear instructions and explanations to the patients and/or their representative or caregiver, both prior and throughout any procedure

  • Maintaining accurate patient data and examination worksheets for all examinations

  • Participating in quality assurance initiatives to improve the level of service that you and the team provide to patients and referrers

  • Availability to help with onsite clinician performed ultrasound teaching.  3 weekends/yr through the University of Otago

  • Availability to participate in review of 'point of care ultrasounds' with Dunstan Medical Officers

Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT)

Immediate start

Part time – 2 days permanent and the flexibility to cover other days as required

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a General Radiographer to join the dynamic and passionate diagnostic radiology team at Dunstan Hospital in Clyde.

 

We are currently seeking a part time general MIT, preferably with CT experience. The role will include participation in an on-call roster that includes weekend work.

 

The successful applicant will be comfortable working unsupervised.  You will also need to be familiar with using your initiative and great interpersonal communication skills to provide a comprehensive clinical MIT practice.  Enthusiasm for outstanding patient care and sensitivity to confidentiality will obviously be critical for the role.

 

You will of course need to be registered with the NZ MRTB as a Medical Imaging Technologist, and be experienced in all aspects of general radiography, while holding a current APC.  Experience in a rural environment would be helpful, but is not essential.

Casual Position - Cleaner

 

Central Otago Health Services Ltd (Dunstan Hospital) is looking for staff interested in fulfilling a casual cleaning role.  The hours of work will vary but will cover our 7-day operation.  Weekend work may be required, penal rates do apply.  Training will be provided to comply with our Infection and Control and Health and Safety practices. 

 

Applicants will need to:

  • Be enthusiastic and have a good sense of humour.

  • Have previous cleaning experience.

  • Excellent time management skills whilst being able to work unsupervised.

  • Be able to work under pressure, unsupervised.

  • Have an eye for detail verging on fussy – loves cleaning.

  • Have confident communication skills with all levels of personnel and patients.   Please note this role will involve some patient interaction whilst undertaking this roles.

  • Abide by our confidentiality policies and procedures.

  • Show a high standard of personal presentation.   A uniform will be supplied.

Casual Position - Kitchen Hand

 

Central Otago Health Services Ltd (Dunstan Hospital) is looking for staff interested in fulfilling our casual kitchen hand position.  The hours of work will vary between a 7 to 9-hour day to be worked between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm. Weekend work may be required, penal rates do apply.  Training will be provided to comply with our Infection and Control and Health and Safety practices. 

 

Applicants will need to:

  • Be enthusiastic and have a good sense of humour.

  • Have previous food handling experience.

  • Excellent time management skills whilst being able to work unsupervised.

  • Be able to work under pressure, unsupervised.

  • Have an eye for detail verging on fussy – loves cooking/baking for our Café and inpatient ward.
