Charge Medical Imaging Technologist (MIT)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced General Radiographer to lead our Radiology team on a permanent full-time basis at Dunstan Hospital in Clyde.

Central Otago Health Services Ltd (COHSL) is a community owned, not-for-profit organisation that is responsible for providing healthcare services for the Central Otago region.

What we are looking for:

  • A competent MIT (X-ray and CT) with experience leading a Radiology team

  • Sufficient level of expertise to work autonomously without a Radiologist onsite

  • Someone who is enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and leads by example when it comes to clinical excellence

  • Enthusiasm for outstanding patient care and sensitivity to confidentiality is critical

Sonographer 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sonographer to join our Radiology team on a permanent part-time basis (0.4FTE) at Dunstan Hospital in Clyde.

We are looking for:

  • A friendly Sonographer who is happy to be part of a small Radiology team and works hard to lead by example when it comes to clinical excellence

  • Experience in performing Obstetric, General, Vascular and MSK examinations is essential

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse with Charge Nurse or Associate Charge Nurse experience, interested in this key leadership position for our Vincent Ward at Dunstan Hospital. This is your chance to secure a fantastic role immersed in the rural environment and show you can make a difference and meet the unique challenges that rural healthcare provides.

 

The Charge Nurse provides leadership to our nursing team, ensuring that the team is able to provide a consistently high standard of clinical care to patients and their families/whanau. The successful applicant will work closely with the medical team and all members of the wider multidisciplinary team.

 

Specifically, the Charge Nurse is responsible for the management of the ward including clinical leadership & coordination, operational functions, quality and financial performance, human resource management, quality and risk management, clinical pathway development and other service delivery improvements within the ward.

 

The Charge Nurse role is full-time Monday to Friday, 8am-4.30pm.

 

The applicant must have:

  • A current practicing certificate

  • Recent Charge Nurse or ACN experience

  • A minimum of six years post registration experience

  • Extensive acute nursing experience

  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

  • Be dynamic, self-motivated and enthusiastic

  • Have great leadership and inter-personal skills - an ability to bring calm to chaos

  • Confident computer skills

We have an exciting opportunity for a registered nurse to secure a fantastic role immersed in the rural environment and show you can make a difference and meet the unique challenges that rural healthcare provides. Dunstan Hospital is a rural trust hospital based in Clyde, Central Otago. We provide services for a large geographical area that is 2.5 hours from our base hospital in Dunedin.

 

We are offering opportunities for registered nurses to join our wonderful nursing team at in the acute inpatient area.  Our ward comprises 24 beds, including a 3 bed High Dependency Unit.  We provide acute medical care, trauma/emergency medical care (no walk in ED) rehabilitation and palliative care throughout the age spectrum. You will work closely with the medical team and all members of the wider multidisciplinary team.

 

Our ward nurses must be available to work rostered shifts on variable days including the on-call roster.

 

We are looking for nurses who:

  • Have a current Annual Practising Certificate.

  • Have had recent acute nursing experience.

  • Are self-motivated, positive and enthusiastic both in service delivery and professional development.

Registrar Positions at Dunstan Hospital, Clyde.

 

Dunstan has Rural Hospital Registrar attachments available for 2022. These are 6 month runs accredited for Rural Hospital Medicine training.

 

Dunstan Hospital is a 24 bed acute care rural hospital located in Clyde, Central Otago.

Registrars will join a senior clinical team providing acute care and rural hospital inpatient care. We are well supported by specialist services in the Southern DHB and work closely with local GP’s to care for a community of over 30,000 people. Our hospital services a large area including Roxburgh, Alexandra, Cromwell and Wanaka.

 

Clinical services at Dunstan Hospital include: Acute 24-hour 24 bed assessment & inpatient care, rehabilitation and palliative care, and a 3-bed high dependency unit. We look after primary afterhours care from 6pm, and have on-site radiology (incl. CT) and lab who are on call overnight. In addition are a number of outpatient clinics and community services.

 

As a team we strive to provide a supportive and quality learning environment for Registrars, with plenty of opportunity for practical clinical learning and experience, as well as weekly teaching sessions and regular simulations. All the seniors are trained in point of care ultrasound. A number of staff are involved in teaching with the University of Otago through the Rural Postgraduate Programme. We also host undergraduate 5th and 6th year medical students, nursing students and allied health students.

 

Dunstan Hospital has close links with primary care, with regular liaison meetings and joint CME events. Those registrars hoping to remain in the area and complete their GP training should put that in their applications and we can facilitate connections.

 

Finally, Central Otago offers a nice community to slot into. There are plenty of outdoors activities in the region, not least being some of NZ’s best mountain biking, and a great array of excellent cafes and eating places.
