We have 0.8-1.0 FTE available at Dunstan Hospital, commencing August 2022 for 6 months. This is suitable for either a Rural Hospital Medicine (RHM) SMO or a Registrar.

Dunstan Hospital is a 24-bed acute care rural hospital located in Clyde, Central Otago, run by Central Otago Health Services Limited.

You will join a well-established, supportive and enthusiastic clinical team providing acute care and rural hospital inpatient care. We are well supported by specialist services in the Southern DHB and work closely with local GP’s to care for a community of over 35,000 people. We service a large area including Roxburgh, Alexandra, Cromwell and Wanaka.

Dunstan Hospital provides a wide range of clinical services including: 24-hour acute care, inpatient care, rehabilitation and palliative care, and a 3-bed high dependency unit. We look after primary afterhours care from 6pm, and have on-site radiology (incl. CT) and lab who are on call overnight. In addition are a number of outpatient clinics and community services.

Central Otago is a beautiful part of the country and a welcoming community. The outdoors is on your doorstep with biking, skiing and endless wilderness adventures. The area is filled also with vineyards and a great selection of excellent cafes and restaurants.

For registrars interested in applying we provide a supportive and quality learning environment, with plenty of opportunity for practical clinical learning and experience, as well as weekly teaching sessions and regular simulations. If you are looking to apply as a registrar for this post we only ask for applicants who have not already signed up for a job for August 2022.
